Alamo car hire Nice Airport - licence check code

I'm going to Nice on Tuesday and hiring a car from Alamo.

One of the items listed as required to hire a car is a Drivers license check code or share code.

I'm having trouble getting one as I've a Northern Ireland issued licence which has a different driver number format than those issued elsewhere in the UK.

Do I actually need it? In past experiences has anyone been asked for it?

I've never been asked for it anywhere outside the UK.

I always generate one, sometimes in a panic on my phone while in the pick-up queue...but never once been asked for it either inside or outsode the UK!

As above, we were told by a friend that we needed one for hiring with Enterprise in the US. Got it before we flew (they're valid for 2 weeks I think), never asked for it.

It's easy to do and free so I'd perhaps just do it and have the code saved somewhere just in case.

Well it turns out I thankfully wasn't asked for it and even got an upgrade from the car i'd booked.
