iCruise allows you to track prices IIRC.

I did Transatlantic on VV and really enjoyed it. We had some light chop for the first 4 days but after that was a bit smoother.

I like the lack of port days as it forces people to socialise a bit more. That said a Cunard etal crossing is on another level so I dont know how they work.

The cruise thread is a good place to ask.

Regarding best price it’s generally when they first go on sale or last minute that give you the best prices.

Always better to sail from Soton to New York if you can….its the classic route, arriving into NY as Manhattan wakes up.

I like dealing with Sovereign Cruises - https://www.sovereigncruise.co.uk . They tend to be competitive on price and have exceptional customer service. I've used them many a time t book Cunard, Princess and P&O trips.

I took the QM2 from Southampton to New York (and then up to Boston and Halifax) for my honeymoon 10 years ago. It was supposed to be a once in the lifetime trip.

I've now done something like 20 cruises, with the vast majority being on Cunard. We enjoy travelling this way (slower pace of life, less stress). I've done the transatlantic 3 times, once from Southampton to NY and twice the other way (Cunard used to offer flight + cruise for as low as £999/person - we'd book this for a cheap second holiday for the year).

The QM2 is showing its age a bit now, but it's still a great ship. You will get lost on her, there's half decks and a lot of design decisions which don't make sense until you realise it's an ocean liner rather than cruise ship.

evening all.

We are booked. We leave NY on 8 May 26, in a sheltered balcony room. Intent is to go all in and enjoy the experience - especially gala nights. Its going to be fun!!

A transatlantic crossing sits firmly on our bucket list, we love the Cunard experience, I was in the “iconic “ arrival into Manhattan camp but to see the sights you’ll be out on deck v early.
A New York departure means a sail away party at the rear of the ship with all the iconic sights gliding past……very jealous.

I did it a few years back - was a fantastic experience - including watching the 2007 Rugby World Cup Final onboard.

They change the clocks an hour every day so that the overall time change is just absorbed into life.

Whatever you paid for the cruise though is now going to be at least doubled by what you need to spend to get your daughter suitable outfits.

congratulations on booking that! We're on the QM2 in Sept, so really looking forward to that, and we're looking forward to contrasting it with our P&O t/a cruise from last year
