Just came back from a month long stay in Tenerife. Been doing this for the last 10 years. Always hired a car from Autoreisen or Cicar since they were zero hassle.

The last 5 years has been Autoreisen. Most years we get a free upgrade which can be a blessing in disguise since even though the cars are fab the parking space we have is tiny and awkward to get in and out. Yes I know I sound ungrateful.

For next year Cicar can rent us a fiat 500 which is just the job for the two of us. Has anyone recently hired from Cicar. Are they they still hassle free?

I'm concerned since Cicar recently started an operation in the Balearics and are operating the same policy as all the other hire companies. I was charged 25 euros for being 0.2 litres off a full tank in Majorca after enduring a five minute walk around the car with a telescopic mirror. Crazy sh*t!

I'm picking up a Cicar tomorrow in Tenerife and have used them a lot in the past 6 years.

Have always found them easy to deal with and no excess if the car takes some damage.

I hope that attitude hasn't changed.

I have always used CiCar when in Fuerteventura and never had any issues.

Price always seems good, no deposit or credit card hold and no extra insurance required.

Only issue is that the queue at the airport can be very long.

Cheers
Nice to know Cicar is still decent in the Canaries
Had a Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake this summer from Autoreisen. Lovely car but just too big for my needs.

Used them in Gran Canaria many many times.

The only issue I have ever had was on my last rental there - they lost the car and it took about 90mins to locate it - it wasnt in the bay (or even car park) they thought it was and was on the other side of the parking facility on a different floor.

The desk agent wouldnt change the vehicle to one they could locate so we just had to try and find it.

Other than that all was fine.
