Weekend Break - Helsinki or Stockholm

Only have time for a quick visit, arrive Thurs or Fri night, depart Sun evening

Not sure which city to visit, interested to know which one people have been to, would recommend and why

Been to both, enjoyed them both, either or.

If arriving on the Thursday, Helsinki gives you the added advantage of being able to do a day in Tallinn, Estonia. First ferry out, last back. About 90 mins each way.

Highlights of our Stockholm weekend were the Vasa museum, the ABBA centre almost next door, the old town & palace and the food halls.

Helsinki in the summer is an absolute delight and the outdoors comes alive - Stockholm works any time of year. Depends when you are planning to go...

Worked and lived in both, much prefer Stockholm.

Helsinki, and Finland to be honest added to my depression, horrible place to be in the winter IMO...

ABBA v Moomins though..... hmmm...

Not been to Helsinki but Stockholm is brilliant. The Vasa Museum and the story behind the ship is very interesting. Gamla Stan, Museum of Modern Art, Abba, Boat trip around the islands, Great food and people, Royal Palace, Palace Museum, Nobel Prize Museum , Skansen, Use the Arlanda Train from the Airport to the city centre.

Not been Stockholm so can't comment on that. Been to Helsinki a couple of times, its a nice place but quite small and lots of things are shut on Sunday.
