1700 miles in four days and very lucky with the weather.
Certainly my favourite time of year.
Just thought I would share a few memories with you all.
First port of call was the R101 memorial in Allonne, just outside Beauvais.
It's situated at the exact spot where she floundered 95 years ago.
I have always had a fascination with the early airships and often wonder what it must have been like to witness something the size of the Titanic float overhead.

Then on to Le Mans and the Hotel Arbor which I'm sure many of you will know is situated on the Mulsanne Straight just after the second chicane.

Sadly the museum is shut for renovation and we arrived too late for admission to the temporary one.
Karting was then wrapping up for the day but at least I can say I’ve seen racing at Le Mans!

Then down to Rocamadour and the real reason for the trip. A magical place. Can only imagine what a nightmare it would be in August.

Obligatory pilgrimage to Reims-Gueux on the way home via the Massif Central. Plan was to photograph Clermont Ferrand from the hills but the weather had other ideas.

The first couple of pics, I thought they look alright, then thought must have lifted the rest from the internet, until it clicked.
Great images, few more and a bit of a write up would be nice, non the less great post.
The car looks the doggies, prefer the style to MX5, nice choice of wheels.

We have a house not too far from Rocamadour, I have been many times.
You are right what you say about August. It is unbelievably hot and unbelievably crowded too, even at 7pm.
Much better this time of the year, most of the restaurants are still open too.
I you are driving something nice, another place in the same area worth visiting for the day is Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère. You can hire a kayak for a pleasant afternoon and they bring you back a few hours later.
Then in the evening you can have a superb drive along the D704 north to eat at the historic village of Ségur-le-Château at a riverside restaurant called La Part Des Anges, then maybe stay at Arnac-Pompadour and see some Horse Racing.
All the best places and a bit off the standard tourist route.

Just come back last month taking in Epernay, Provence (Chateauneuf-de-Gadagne), Collioure, Beaune then finishing off with a couple of nights in Ghent, Belgium before heading back on the Amsterdam-Newcastle ferry.
Absolutely love France but next year Northern Spain via a trek through France (rather than the Bilbao/Santander route).
