Greek Island hopping.

Indulge me...
We have never been before, but fancy the idea of going to Greece in the May half term (wife works p/t in a school
), but it would be 9 days in total.
We have the idea to perhaps stay at three different locations/islands. We don't want anything too touristy, no big hotels, no all-inclusive, ideally small family run hotels or pension / B&B type places, preferably not self-catering, in coastal villages or small towns, walking distance to beach and restaurants, that sort of thing.
Any suggestions?

Paleo Trikeri is pretty small, the main 'tourism' is charter yachts mooring in the harbour so the village/town fills up toward the end of the afternoon. The last visit there was staying in a former monastery/prison camp which was fairly spartan. Sadly the ferry from Volos does not stop there any more so it's water taxis only.
Three locations on different islands in nine days is too much.
I would go to Crete and hire a car. Stay in Reythmnon and that gives you a lovely town and beach. Head to south coast for quieter villages and west for beaches.
If you really want to try three islands then Skiathos, Skopelos and Allinosos maybe a possibility as all close together, all have a different character and fairly short ferry trips.

We did this a good few years back now. Flew into Santorini and had a night there before a boat to Paros for a few days, then Naxos for a few days and then back to Santorini for a few more before flying home. Absolutely brilliant. Paros and Naxos particularly felt at the time pretty much unspoilt by mass tourism. Naxos town was great for a wander around - remember eating the biggest, freshest salad bowls ever. Random memory but those salads where THAT good. We stayed just outside of town in Aggia Anna which had a great beach and a few nice places to eat/drink. Epic sunsets. Paros we stayed in town but had a few day trips out. Again, the run of bars down the sea front were made for sipping sangria and Mythos and watching the sun set.

Went to Naxos many years ago and out of 15+ Greek islands I have visited over the years it’s my favourite, also stayed Aggia Anna, beaches best I have seen in Greece ( fine white sand and turquoise waters)
