Hi All

I had a flight cancelled in December to AMS from SPU with under 24 hours notice. As per the EU rules, it would seem I am entitled to compensation. I applied to KLM for this, but they replied denying it saying they were unable to land at AMS due to adverse weather.

I checked the AMS arrivals for that afternoon, and mine was the only flight cancelled that afternoon. I replied to KLM with this info, and they replied that they were sorry I was unhappy with their response but there was nothing they could do!

Please can someone advise who to contact to progress this? Is www.aviationadr.org.uk the best place?

Thanks in advance

Id guess either the aircraft or pilots weren't equipped for a landing in lo-viz.

Good luck.

Thanks - looking at the website it says that it only covers flights that arrive/depart in the UK though?

That would make sense.

Yes.

They do seem to have an EU website do maybe that's best for KLM and an EU airport.

It seems Aviation ADR only cover flights that originate or land in the UK - any other ideas of how to proceed? Thanks

Hi all

Is there an EU equivalent of ADR? Or another way to proceed as it was an EU-EU flight? KLM are refusing to acknowledge my question regarding why compensation denied.

Many thanks

After numerous emails to KLM where they continually avoided answering any questions, I started small claims court action last week. Today they have had admitted liability and agreed to pay up. Terrible company. I suspect they save millions each year denying compensation that is owed.

A long and drawn out story but we were left stranded in Geneva with KLM. 5 adults and 2 children. They actually lied to us saying the flight was full. I know this as one of the party decided to join us late and booked separately. She made the flight and it was half empty. (Apparently they were going to send a smaller plane than planned due to a problem but they must have resolved whatever issue there was and sent the original larger plane.) We were also sent on wild goose chases in the airport too. Due to how long we had to wait for an alternative flight we were entitled to compensation. They actually had to buy us tickets for a BA flight to Heathrow and then BA back to Newcastle in the end.

It took months of chasing, complaining and arguing over the phone but they only paid up when I threatened legal action. At one point they closed the ticket saying it was a BA issue. That was the final straw for me. We ended up with 250 Euros per passenger as I refused the 350 Euro voucher for KLM flights in the future. This off the back of being stranded in Schiphol a few months earlier and having more problems. They are a sh**show of an airline and only pay up if you're prepared for a long fight.

My wifexalso had issues with KLM. She had flights booked and paid for which were then cancelled and they refused to even refund the ticket purchase citing they were a Dutch company and not a UK company so the rules are different.
Fortunately she paid via credit card so she handed it off to them and it still took barclaycard several months to resolve the matter.

Thus was a few years back and we have never flown KLM since
