Good news for those planning a trip!

I just hope it comes soon because I am just about to book a trip to China for this spring and was planning to use the visa free transit system so this would make things a lot simpler.

Hopefully it does not spike flight prices!

It depends, its not hard for most people but it does require an in person visit to a visa office for most people.
Depending where you live that may be easier than done.
There is also the cost of both the visa and the travel and and forth.

My son went to China. It wasn't exactly hard, just more very time consuming and having to visit the Chinese visa place in London EC2

No, just lots of form filling and freaking expensive, especially with family (£200 each).

I was going to go during Easter, hope it's in place by then!

£200 each?

I only paid £161 for an express visa. Would have been way cheaper if I had used the normal service.

I imagine the Entry Declaration will still need to be completed upon arrival at the airport in China though?

It’s not a done deal yet - positive noises but far from confirmed

Currently in China, got myself a multi entry visa last year (£150) normal service for my previous visit and luckily for me has not expired yet. Last year the arrival form was completed at immigration/entry, now it has to be done online. Best to do it on your mobile phone/tablet as you have to "sign" the form, do it before you arrive as you may have roaming issues or the WiFi hotspot may be playing up at immigration/entry gate.

There were still people completing a written form when I landed in Shanghai at the end of last year.

I suspect there are far more Chinese nationals want to come here than the other way round.

Easier for their spies to enter.......

BBC reporting too so I think thats it.

I already booked my flights at the start of this week but didnt book anything else as I wasnt sure if I had to do 2 x 10 day stays or could do longer if this came in so now I can properly plan where I am going around a longer duration in China in one go.
