Bit of a road trip, 3 nights away - Troyes?
Discussion
We have been a few times . Discovered as a call in point driving up and down France , we have subsequently been a few times and are planning on taking some relatives from Australia there in the early summer .
It has a medieval centre , touristy but very pleasant as well as a more modern town east of the medieval part . Its not huge if you are a good walker you can cross town in a coupe of hours stopping off for a coffee en-route .
The medieval town is impressive , what we like about the city is you can walk out of that part to a modern French city with ease.
To the east of the touristy bit is some interesting parts with modern waterways through them , parks and shopping areas .
We stay at the OKKO Hotel, its modern and clean , has good offers on rooms often with drinks and snacks in the bar included . Its right by the station and its 5 mins walk into old town and stumble back in 10. No connection to the Hotel but I do recommend it . Its also on the bus route should you get adventurous for a wider explore . The hotel has a roof top where the city and surrounding hills view is impressive especially at night . Little parks and gardens opposite to sit and watch the world if that's your thing.
If you do go have a look on YouTube how to pronounce the name , is unrecognisable from the spelling .

At that hotel we park in the station multi story car park . It's 50 Metres away 24 hours CCTV and security . About 13 Eur for 24 hours.
If you were to book that hotel ,book direct . Join the Okko club in the website. No extra cost to join and you get room upgrade and free drinks etc .
It's a modern hotel we like it it's European rather than typical french.
For example the rooms have modern wet rooms and very comfortable huge beds . All new . It's only been open a year . Ask for rooms on the higher floors . Views over the city.

20 mins south of Troyes - I've stayed here a couple of times. Very simple B&B, but extremely good.
