Morning all, looking for some recommendations for a bit of sunshine as the title suggests.

Wife, two adult kids and me.

Either a very nice hotel or Villa in Europe with a pool. Looking to where we can get some sunshine pretty much guaranteed so thinking the Canary Islands, Malta or Cyprus. There’s lots of choice in terms of hotels but it’s a little more difficult to work out location and whether you can walk into a town, that’s got plenty of restaurants and shops to look around too. We’d probably prefer a villa, which is even more important we can walk out to eat, but again there’s quite a bit of choice and I’m finding that I am procrastinating much to the annoyance of everyone else. Budget (within reason) not too important as we’re looking to have a good family holiday, with a bit of rest and relaxation rather than do something on the cheap.

Any recommendations on locations or accommodation welcomed.

If your looking for a villa with a pool in Europe at that time of year, make sure the pool is heated.

Med could still be quite cool. I would go canaries, still not 100% chance of sun though... should be dry.

As for where to stay etc need budget.

I find villas to be hit and miss to be honest, the nice stuff is always insane prices. So IME its just easier and better to go with a good hotel.

Tenerife has the most choice, IMO. But will be busier. Certainly lots of 5* properties in Costa Adeje.
Iberostar are good, you also have Melia, Royal Hideaway, Hard Rock, H10 etc. Other choices are available.

Fueteventura would be a good bet - but expect it to be fairly quiet.
More limited in the 5* front but a couple of nice ones, one in the north and one in the south (Iberostar and Melia in the south and Secrets up north)

If you have budget and time then Cancun might be better for sun as it will be 30c and dry.

Thanks for that. Have been looking at Paradisus by Melia in Gran Canaria. Stuck with school holidays, as my Daughter is a teacher, so we are looking at about £10K for 4 during the Easter Holidays, all-inclusive. Drops circa £2K plus either side Grrrrr... We don't really holiday abroad much as my wife isn't too keen on the sun/heat, so we have a motorhome. If we do venture further, we have done the Italian Lakes or Malta (Valetta) in the last couple of years, but in small, good-quality hotels. A bit early in the year for Northern Europe, and we want a good chance of some blue skies, but I don't have much experience of large resort Hotels in recent times, hence being a little apprehensive.

How about Elba Premium Suites in Lanzarote. https://www.hoteleselba.com/en/hotel/elba-premium-...
We have used them a number of times, no issues. Its an adult only 16+ part of a big complex. You have a nice villa, private pool and café, breakfast and evening meals in the premium restaurant. Lots of other facilities in the main complex. I would suggest two, two person adjacent villas, I don't think there are two bedroom villas in this section, there are in the main complex though.
