Safe to fly to Thailand?
Discussion
Routing has not changed for LHR-BKK on EVA68 by the looks of it. Fly out of UK down through Europe over the Black Sea and out through Afghanistan and Pakistan (probably the high risk part) then over northern India and drop into Thailand via the Bay of Bengal. Around 10hr 40m -11hrs.
Avoids the middle east mostly.
The likes of Emirates and Qatar have a whole different issue as they are not direct so go via their hubs in the gulf which is currently basically closed. It looks like most flights are cancelled for tomorrow. Tuesday is TBC.

Flew the other way back from BKK with Eva during lockdown times.
The cabin crew are utterly LOVELY
Emergency exit seats are certainly.....generous too. (will find pic)
777 just behind business class area

You don't go anywhere near the middle east.
Here's the route of SQ317 from LHR to SIN (booked a flight with Singapore to Oz so I could remember that flight number).

Direct flights do but the majority going to places like Thailand transit through Doha or other UAE.
We flew back from Bangkok to Gatwick on Saturday night and flew roughly that route. You say nowhere near the ME but the flight path is only just north of Tehran.

I'm due to fly to Bangkok later this week does it's a direct flight via EVA,
So the OP is flying direct. Also I doubt the majority of Asian flights are going via the ME. Singapore alone does 6 daily flights to LHR and another to LGW.

Flights to and From SE Asia commonly go through the ME. For BKK I've changed at Doha, Muscat, Bahrain,. They also fly over Russia and China.
I just returned from Vietnam and by a huge stroke of luck I had flown out with China Eastern as their business class price was good. No delays or interruptions on the way back, flew Hanoi to Shanghai then to UK over Russia.
My nephew, however, is still on his way back ( I got back Tuesday) - he's had to fly a very convoluted route due to not being allowed to fly into china (job restrictions)
Eva premium economy to BKK is great btw - just its a bit pricey for what it is, but, it IS direct. I'd ratherr pay a bit more and fly BC with a change.

EVA business class is excellent too. Probably the best airline for flights direct to BKK from London.A quick look at a rando 2 weeks in sept (with sensible short stop offs en route, 1 stop)
Etihad £2141 ( 1 short change) (Bus basic)
EvA £3258 (Direct) (business)
Finnair £2260 (short stop over, 6 hour stop in Helsinki on return) (business regular)
(all 3 business offerings chosen to match baggage and lounge access)
Eva look very very expensive. You've really got to hate getting off a nice plane into a lovely lounge to pay that premium. Etihad BC is good but having done both I'd jump at Finnair every time. Service is impeccable, and the hard offering is untouchable (nice spacious lounger type seat vs cocoon). I just came back on a BC "suite" with closing door (from Hanoi) and I didn't like it as much as having open space.
For those outside of LHR 75% of people are flying Emirates via DXB. Well, they were.
The other 25% are taking the likes of Qatar, Saudia, Ethiad.
They are all still stopping in the "hot zone".
Right now with things being on / off at a moments notice it is basically pot luck.
Direct flights come down over the north of Iran near Mashhad and miss Iranian airspace by about 10nm.
Then you have the cluster that is Afghanistan.

I'm sure it is but it would have to be very keenly priced to get me off a Finnair BC flight (and the Helsinki cocktail bar is a big bonus!)

That’s interesting, I usually use Ethiad as I feel their BC is best “value” do finairbhave their own longes?A quick look at a rando 2 weeks in sept (with sensible short stop offs en route, 1 stop)
