Hopefully, someone can help.

I booked a holiday to Egypt with Tui flying from Gatwick. The flight was actually on EasyJet.

It was an early morning flight, so we booked a hotel the night before. Booked a lounge that morning and boarded the flight, we were sat on the plane for 3 hours before we were told the flight had been cancelled and we had to get off.

Eventually, we were booked onto another flight the following day, so we booked back into the same hotel and ordered meals, the lounge again etc.

We were told by the staff that there were air traffic issues and we had additional fuel to get around Greece. When we were told the flight had been cancelled, the flight attendant said it was because the staff would be over their hours to get back from Egypt. https://www.independent.co.uk/travel/news-and-advi...

I'm struggling to get any information. EasyJet isn't talking to us as we booked through Tui, Tui isn't giving us any information as the flight was with EasyJet etc.

We missed a day of the holiday, and had a few hundred pounds of additional expenses. Online sites say we can get £520 per person but only if it was the airline's fault.

Are there any expenses we can claim? Do we just have to write off the costs and a day's holiday?

We do have an annual travel insurance policy, so do we just go through it? or are we better claiming direct?

Many thanks

IIRC you can only claim if the issue was the airlines fault, air traffic control wouldn’t be a reason to claim from so you need to look at your travel insurance.
