Hi all
Just booked 2 nights in Canterbury cathedral lodge b&b. Next week from Tuesday. Been informed they have no parking. Great.
Intended to park the car and leave it there whilst I explored on foot.
Anyway, anyone know anywhere I could park that’s safe to leave the car for a couple of days?
The east railway station best I’ve found so far and about 1/2 mile walk to lodgings.

Grateful for any tips.
I could always cancel and b&b somewhere else I guess if necessary.

Thanks.

If its any help my son went to Uni there, and lived in Zeland Road which is walking distance from the centre was unrestricted parking. Its near the station.

Its not always easy to find a space though.

Do they not have any deals with local car parks? Ive stayed at the Hilton and they have a deal with the Whitefriars shopping carpark which reduces the cost dramatically from the hourly rate.

edit to add the B&B own website answers my question.....

Does the Lodge have onsite car parking? As the hotel is situated within the Cathedral Grounds, car parking is very limited; therefore parking is not guaranteed and needs to be pre-booked before you arrive.

What if there is no car parking available? If in the event we have no car parking spaces left, we are able to offer a reduced cost parking voucher, valid in local car parks for £6.00 for 24hours or £1.50 for overnight (6pm-10am). Car parking vouchers can be booked and paid for online and picked up on check-in. Guests are welcome to come into the Cathedral Grounds to drop off luggage and pick up their parking voucher at reception. Please buy 1 voucher per 24hr Stay.

This, or Parkopedia. Mrs FTR uses these apps frequently - usually for a few hours when she's singing up in London, but she's also used it for a few 2-3 day trips when she had to be in London for an early Eurostar for gigs in France.

£6 for 24 hours parking in Canterbury is a bargain.

I saw that. When I looked it was £13.50 a day. So £40 for my 3 days. Not sure how you’re seeing £6. £6 I would wear.

Thanks

Thanks. Seems to still be free according to parkopedia. May check it out. Not much further to walk to digs.

Theres also various park and ride car parks outside town for £4 a day, but a quick Google says 48hours maximum.

Thomas Tallis Alehouse was my favourite place to find a pint or four. Monument was pretty good too, there are plenty of others.

Multistory at Canterbury West is a decent place to park but a walk (they all will be).

Do you want restaurants too?

Made it.
There was parking at my lodgings in the end.
Nice sunny day yesterday. Just brightening up now today.
Pegasus bar only seems to be open weekends.
Tried Three tuns pub and bailed out as noisy gobste in there and poor ale selection.
White hart was better, a shepherd neame pub. Busy on quiz night.
Shakespeare pub also ok.
3 pints and a burger £30 gone pretty quick.

Canterbury itself pretty nice. Cobbled streets, plenty of shops, cafes etc.
Cathedral magnificent obviously.

Couple of other pubs spotted to try later.

As it’s sunnier might head off now to fordwich to look for beavers.

Cheers all.

There is a company called canoe wild that do rentals from Fordwich to Grove Ferry (about 3 hours) then bring you back if that sounds up your street.
