Ideas for holiday in Germany - Black Forest.
Discussion
Hi all
Thinking of a trip to Germany in the summer - me, wife and dog (who’s a boxer so will feel at home there haha)
Thinking of Black Forest, staying at Baden Baden or Freiburg, want to check out the outdoors.
Mainly a dog walking holiday really.
Anyone been there and can recommend specific places to walk around, lakes, castles, that sort of thing?
Also hotels to stay at?
Thanks in advance!

I recommend the Waldcafe hotel which on the outskirt of BB forest area, and 2 mins walk to the Merkur funicular (great view at the top and cafe at the top). Space for parking and a lovely area if you appreciate the outdoor, so perfect for dog walking too! IIRC, BB centre is only a short drive away if you want the bars and restaurants.

I've used that hotel for motorcycling tours, but it is ideal for hiking or cycling too.

If you want to head a bit further west towards Munich we love Oberammergau. As a bonus there’s a dog-focussed hotel with all kinds of amenities:

You’re close to mountains, not too far from Schloss Neuschwanstein (the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang castle) and the town of Oberammergau is picture-postcard gorgeous as a bonus.
