September Airbnb Villa/Apartment on a budget

Looking for suggestions for our holiday this year please.
We went to Krakow last year self catering and it was fantastic. Quite luxurious accommodation in a brand new, immaculate and safe neighbourhood.
Unbelievably, we weren t on a tight budget then, but everything including flights, 7 nights in an apartment, all food and drinks, activities etc came in at a touch over £1000!
Brilliant trip, and it ll be hard to match, but we fancy more of a beach holiday this year.
2 adults and a 2 year old
Limited budget due to house renovations
Nice to have’s:
- Close to airport
- Bit of a town and beach
- Walkable
- Things to do, doesn t have to be anything too exciting, just cafes and restaurants nearby, a few activities for children
- apartment or villa preferably so child can nap if need be or cool off inside without being confined to a hotel room
Must have’s:
- Safe - lots of European cities seem less so these days
Less than four hour flight time (restless toddler)
- Reachable from Luton, Stansted, Birmingham or East Midlands airport.
Current shortlist is:
- Benalmadena, Spain (short flight, short transfers, good for toddler from what I gather, flights £400, accommodation apartment or small villa c.£600 with shared pool etc, seems a bargain.. easy to find transfers with child seat)
- Split, Croatia (as above really maybe slightly less easy to navigate)
- Malta (don t know much about Malta but looks great)
Any other suggestions greatly appreciated, wildcards and out of the box suggestions welcome.
