Just come through Heathrow T5 and the luggage system failed with no luggage coming through the carousel. They told us over the tannoy it wouldn’t be coming through today, to go home and log it as delayed luggage in ba.com. We’ve done all that and made a list of all contents which will probably total £1000 to replace. They said they will be couriered to us in the next couple of days. If it doesn’t arrive what’s the likelihood of getting compensated for the full amount? Or is it like car insurance where it’s marked down and you only get a proportion of the replacement cost.

Luggage is only considered permanently lost after 21 days, if it cannot be found. They will want receipts etc if you need to claim

So if I haven’t got receipts, which I won’t have for most of it, I won’t get compensated?

BA lost/forgot to put on the plane our child seat a few years ago. At Heathrow they gave us a brand new one to get home in. Then around 24 hours later there was a knock on the door and someone had couriered our original lost seat to us for Heathrow (140 miles or so). Couldn’t fault it really
