It wouldn't be covered as part of the standard scheme as its a non-UK/EU airline, even though its a flight that is returning to a UK/EU airport: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/flight-de...
This is the US equivalent offering (its v.limited): https://www.transportation.gov/airconsumer/airline...

It is covered as the flight originated in the UK. The compensation already offered is way more than the EU scheme. Maybe they'll pay both - I guess the passenger has to claim? This is the US equivalent offering (its v.limited): https://www.transportation.gov/airconsumer/airline...
Anyway, OP reads like they asked for volunteers? That's common in the US - they do an auction at the gate.

My understanding is that we're now talking about the return flight which presumably originates at MSP. According to the link backwards-Motorola posted, airline compensation is entirely voluntary and Delta has specifically not committed to providing compensation for delayed or cancelled flights.Edited by LunarOne on Friday 26th June 13:27

The information below is only relevant to flights covered by UK law. To be covered, your flight must either:
-depart from an airport in the UK on any airline
- arrive at an airport in the UK on an EU or UK airline, or
- arrive at an airport in the EU on a UK airline
OP's daughter can claim the full £520.-depart from an airport in the UK on any airline
- arrive at an airport in the UK on an EU or UK airline, or
- arrive at an airport in the EU on a UK airline
Did she take the offered compensation or was bumped? If she was bumped then yeah, go for it. If she took the offered compensation then it's taking the micky.

Delta is not a UK/EU airline
Therefore, she is not eligible

Thankfully trump hasn't cancelled all the protections, some still remain:

Should bring up specifics for Delta, if not, select them under "carrier"
