E-sim for turkey

Hi Any recommendations for e-sim while in Turkey? Google seems to suggest GoMo World but chat gptmrecommenda other options.

We used Easysim last year, 20GB cost around £13. Be aware though, that it doesn't include calls or texts, which can cost an arm or a leg, so use Whatsapp to call instead.

Because it is, unlimited data for 500+ essential apps. None of the apps appear to be ones that are likely to use any significant amount of data such as streaming services.
I also do wonder what permissions you'll need to grant on the phone for it to know which apps are using the data.

I've used BNESim in Turkey for data, connection and data speed was good and had no issues using the app and connecting to the local networks.

I have used the Honest Mobile Smart Sim, which is both roaming in 150 countries and roaming in the UK - if you don't have signal on your main line then you can use it to connect to an alternative as it will connect to EE, Vodafone, O2, and Three .

It does only work with around 500 selected apps and it doesn't allow streaming or web browsing, but it does allow the use of WhatsApp messages and calls. Those 500 apps are all the sorts of thing you would use when travelling - maps, translation, transport, financial, news, etc.

As for permissions, you don't need to grant any permissions at all.

You just install an eSIM as you normally would and the mobile data connection only allows the selected apps to work. If you try to bypass that restriction with a VPN then it just doesn't work.

You can however use the IOS hotspot facility to connect from a phone that doesn't have the eSIM to the one that does, for the one that doesn't to use any of those allowed apps.

Is it as good as a full roaming sim - no. Is it cheaper than a full roaming sim - it was for me when I used it earlier this year on multiple Caribbean islands. And it has been useful in the UK when EE is doing their usual 'no coverage here despite being the so-called best network in the UK'.

When in Turkey a few years ago we used Airalo, zero issues at all, apart from the initial set up phone wise, but I think that was us as opposed to the actual E-Sim, we were new to this kind of thing and probably should have just familiarised ourselves with the initial set up before landing in Turkey absolutely shattered!
