Ibiza for over 40 s

My wife’s birthday is coming up and she’s dropped a hint or ten that she’d love to go to Ibiza and let her hair down for a long weekend of some clubbing and relaxing.
We both appreciate higher end hotels and preferably ones that don’t have kids or large groups of 20somethings making a mess of things. Looking for high quality, relaxed yet positive & vibrant atmosphere and not too far from the clubs. Nice pool and outdoor space essential. Probably with similarly like minded /aged guests!
Initially thinking The Standard, Nobu, Six Senses, maybe Ibiza grand hotel….

My brother got married in Ibiza and we all stayed here, really nice hotel and chilled out.

The area is a typical holiday resort town but it's nothing like San Antonio, would happily go back there. We went in May though and it was clearly low season, with most people being in their 40's and 50's (including us)
The wedding venue was next to this place and it looked like a decent high end hotel/small resort, it is rather remote though.

The Gran was a great choice when we went a couple of years ago. Corner suite with pool We both appreciate higher end hotels and preferably ones that don t have kids or large groups of 20somethings making a mess of things. .Great location on the edge of the old town, excellent food offerings at the hotel and nearby. Not far from Pasha, and Chinois is adjacent.
Nobu and the Grand are both great and not too far from the action. Haven't tried the Standard yet but heard good things.
Destino is very good, but you'll need to get taxis into town, although it isn't too far. Six Senses is miles from anywhere, albeit in a beautiful part of the island.
Amare is really nice, but a lot more 'group holiday' than high-end. The local area isn't that great, lots of cheaper hotels around, and San Antonio doesn't have much to offer except the Sunset strip and Pikes.
I also rate the Melia in Santa Eularia, but it's a quiet town with little in the way of nightlife.
Destino is very good, but you'll need to get taxis into town, although it isn't too far. Six Senses is miles from anywhere, albeit in a beautiful part of the island.

Would highly recommend Me Ibiza. Photos below are from our room, and from the roof terrace.
We visited as three couples celebrating a 40th. Property is incredible and service was brilliant. Breakfast mimosas / cava a highlight! Not stuffy at all.
It's on the other end of the island from San Antonio, which suited us. A taxi to Ibiza old town was maybe 50EUR. Walking distance from Playa es Canar and a short taxi to Santa Eulalia which is lovely. We spent an afternoon at Nikki beach. Ate at Jul's one night, in Ibiza old town another, and Santa Eulalia on the last night.
Hotel has a roof terrace bar with sunset DJ slots. Food and drinks generally lovely. Never a problem getting loungers and there are additional nice spots to sit, whether in sun or in shade - chairs hanging from trees etc.
Would 100% go back (and wanted to this year but the girls have opted for Vilamoura).

If you really want close to the action then Ushuaia?
I’ve not stayed there, but I went to a gig there (Armin van Buuren if you’re interested) about 3 years ago, I’d say the majority of the crowd were 30s/40s or older, there was one couple that must have been well into their 70s up on their balcony absolutely loving it. If I had unlimited funds I’d book a room overlooking the pool there in an instant.
As it was, we stayed in the Gran Sol in San Antonio, it’s pretty quiet, spotlessly clean, reasonably priced and about 15 minutes walk from the West End, 5 minutes from Cafe Mambo and Cafe Del Mar. You could definitely do a lot worse.

My wife's friend goes every year, en famille. We play golf so that's no issue; where not with family we just lounge about, go to bars and eat nice food. So we're very content with a quiet spot!Actually surprised the girls picked it.
Ibiza can be pretty much whatever you want it to be.
I'd avoid San An, but Ibiza town is really nice, and the beaches in the north are beautiful and very relaxed/ family friendly. If you wanted to be closer to the action you've got places like Ocean Beach or Ushuaia which have clubs and hotels all in one.

I would go with ME Ibiza, nice side of the island where you can get to other places and easily. W Hotel in Santa Eulalia also worth a look.
We stayed by the 7 Pines a few years ago - lovely hotel but rather isolated.
The Standard is very nice, but it is a town centre location so doesn’t get the views or have that beachside ‘vibe’. Great rooftop bar and pool.

We stayed in the Melia in Santa Eularia last month and loved it. I wanted somewhere more chilled than Bossa and San An, and we didn't see anything that worked in Ibiza Town. Was a EUR 45 taxi to Bossa and similar to San An.
Clubbing wise we did Tanit for Clockwork Orange, and then 528 for Sasha and Digweed, 528 was brilliant for us "older" ravers, and I can't wait to go back there. The big super clubs in Bossa don't really interest me, although queing for an hour outside of Hi for a cab did make me wonder if I should have stayed there!
Next year I think we may try and find somewhere in Ibiza Town, otherwise I think we'd go back to the Melia.

Especially compared to Ushuaia, where 3 x vodka red bulls cost me €87.....

528 the drinks weren't too bad. EUR 10 for a draught beer, which might have been slightly less than a pint but still cheaper than I was expecting.
