Thailand visa free entry changes
Discussion
Just a heads up to anyone planning a longer trip this winter - the 60 day visa free entry is reducing to 30 days as of the 15th September.
Anyone wanting to do longer will either have to apply for a visa before travel or apply for an extension once in country.
As is usual for Thailand we will have to see how they enforce this in practice - but the 30 days seems set in stone. Multiple entry will have to see.

They've been making noise that if you want multiple entries you need a visa, they're saying visa runs are a thing of the past. The multiple entry visa gets you 60 days + 30 day extension so is a decent bet, but you'll have to show about £5k in the bank, and I think your balance over the previous 6 months must have been constantly above the £5k. I know people that have applied for other thai visas, and they're ultra strict on that.
Yep it was in the Royal Gazette starting 1st September.
As far as I am aware for a 60 day tourist visa I believe it is 20000 baht (circa £500) for 3 months in bank account.
Pain in the arse though going for over 30 days again this winter so now have to apply for tourist visa for first time!
Any tips for getting 60 day Tourist Visa? How do you show proof of funds? Savings accounts don’t give monthly statements? Is a recent photo one you take on your phone or have we got to go to a photo both lol. I remember all the problems with getting a Thai Pass and only receiving mine a few days before flying. Thailand is not the most efficient country for processing this kind of stuff

I wouldnt bother if you want 60 days (especially without re-entry). You get 30 plus a 30 day extension. I'm not sure about bangkok, but in Phuket and koh samui I've used private immigration companies, just sent them, my passport with a Grab and get it back later same day with the extension in it. I've done it in person before, but it's a pain, several hours waiting and going miles. Love the way TH keep changing the system / rules :-)
I gather they have a problem with illegal workers, again.
Make visas easy and longer to bring in tourists. Tourists don't leave :-) Be great if they limited russian visas to 15 days :-)
For those that have not before, their online system has been great for as long as I remember it.
