Just Fek off... For a while.
Discussion
I'm just sitting here looking at the dark and rain (9:30pm on 22nd October) and last week finished a clients contract, so have a week or two with no work. So, I'm just pondering about fekin off for a week on a EU road trip on my own. Mrs 997s isn't very happy with the idea, but you only live once. So, question is, where do I go? What would you do?

I once decided on a Friday to cycle LEJOG. Started that Sunday morning. Might not be the weather for that this weekend mind.
Sorting SkyScanner flights by cheapest first can be fun. Pick the first thing that takes your fancy.
That; what's the furthest you can get for £100/200/etc.Sorting SkyScanner flights by cheapest first can be fun. Pick the first thing that takes your fancy.
Ooooh, loads of options.
Me…
Atlantic Ocean Road is my first thought. Be fun driving up here, and then driving over this baby!

But check the weather. Could be a bit… rough…

In which case probably a road trip to Costa Del Sol for me. Smooth quiet tarmac, cruise along the coastline enjoying the sites and the heat.

This is what I’d be doing. Wouldn’t fancy being on a bike or a ferry over the next few days. Find your nearest airport on Skyscanner and see what appeals.
Costa Del Sol as mentioned above could be a good shout. South of France, Italy, Croatia for some warmer weather?
Any other places you’ve always fancied going? I quite fancy the Technik Speyer museum in Germany for example.
I take it you want to drive somewhere, not just hop on a plane by yourself? In which case... id be touring german car museums and perhaps take in the sights at spa and the ring.
Unfortunately driving is now so much more expensive than flying... I was thinking of driving from the uk to southern Portugal in February, but it takes real commitment to drive knowing a budget flight to faro is considerably quicker and cheaper.

Yeah, We did a Portugal road trip 3 years ago, it was cheaper to fly and hire a car for 2 weeks than take mine... Gassing Station | Holidays & Travel | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
