I looked into going this summer. Somewhere a bit different I thought, which attracted me. On looking into it though, it seems that it is under developed as a resort, with very little to do. Some of the reviews on trip advisor were awful. I don't take that much notice of trip advisor as people do love to moan. But when everyone is moaning about the same things, with little praise balancing things up, I'll listen.

The impression I got was along the lines of as quiet as the Maldives, but without the beauty!

Sorry to be so negative, just telling it as I saw it. It may well have improved in the last few months for all I know.

Happy hunting!

I ve been 3 times for kitesurfing, as the place is not developed for the average tourism but is already very popular in the water sport comunities.
if you are used to very touristic places with plenty of things to keep u busy, it is really not the right place.
There are few very nice spots to see inside the country, but again dont expect super confy excursion to reach them.

But the place is great if u are ready to move a bit on your own, eventually even to trek to the few places to see in the wild places. and if you are into sea/beach activities, that's also great, not very crowdy, long beachs...just keep in mind it is not a surf and kitesurf spot for nothing, it is rather wavy and windy most of the time.

When you say wavy, does this mean snorkelling a no no? It's just one of those destinations that keep croping up as being vaguely reasonable cost wise and pretty much guaranteed sunshine. Lack of touristy business is a plus surely?

We're also looking at going there in November.
Over half just likes to lay on the beach... and I'm in to wind surfing.

From everything we have heard so far - it looks nice... but v quiet!

It's fantastic, go!
Me and my fiance went in June to the Sal Riu resort and it was amazing. The fact it's under developed was one of the main attractions. The hotel complex itself was very good and the beach is great. The only problem was having people try and sell you things on the beach but it's hardly a major drag to say no. Some of the locals were really nice.
You can do as much or as little as you want. We did kayaking, quad-biking and went scuba diving. There are lots of island tours available on land or boat and we also walked to the local pier to watch the fishermen land their catch, gave a real insight into island life.
It's quite a windy island so gets good waves. Also makes sunbathing more comfortable as the sun is very strong there, it just doesn't feel it.

I'd love to go back but really hope that the popularity and developments don't ruin the islands.
