Were you planning on staying in hotels or camping? I went last May and found a great camp site if you want one.

Or look at my profile for a nice cottage wink

Lots to see and do in the Loire - mainly Chateaux and Vineyards, but lots else. What do you like?

I saw that a few weeks ago and might contact you about it for a week or so later on in the year. Looks lovely.

No problem - happy to meet up to talk it over if you like as we both live in Reading!

Go to the Troglodite caves..really impressive and try the mushroom wine! Not made of mushrooms but the vines are planted amongst mushrooms so it smells strongly of them but tastes great!

So many good places.

Gites de France have quite a few around Bauge - north of Saumur - so easy access down to the Loire itself but also handy for the zoo at La Fleche (stunning).

I stayed in a place called Amboise a couple of years back, beautiful place and with the obligatory chateau. Also it turned out the place where Leonardo Da Vinci ended his life.
Hotel was called Le Manoir or something, private hotel run by an american woman, one of the best Hotels I've ever stayed in.
