New to the Caravan scene

At the ripe old age of 41 I've just purchased my first caravan. The reason behind it being to get away whenever I can for long weekends , possibly a week , and being able to take the Dog with us. No kids to cater for they've grown up and are not interested in tagging along so just me , the Mrs and the Dog. I am looking to visit places within a 130 mile radius of the Northwest if going for a long weekend or anywhere in the UK if going for a week. I am looking for recommendations from fellow PH'ers on good places to stay / visit . I don't need a fully inclusive site , just a remote spot , with or without electric hook up , that offers good dog walking opportunities by day and welcoming dog friendly pubs by night within strolling distance of the campsite. If anyone can heartily recommend suitable places I'd be happy to hear about them.

Your first job should be to join the caravan club or the camping and caravan club.Both own their own sites and are very clean and well maintained
Also the caravan club have certificated locations which are really just privately owned fields without facilities

Welcome! You will have a fantastic time. I absolutely love being away in the caravan. Join the caravan club and then join a couple of centres-I am in the Cheshire centre and get to hear about rallies that take place. It's very relaxed and you get to meet some great people-and some of us are actually petrolheads too!!Wirral country park is lovely! Nice for walking the dog along the beach.

Find the owners club or a local caravan club, my FIL goes on rallies most weekends either through the owners club or local caravan club.

Head to Snowdonia. Everything you want and more. Llanberis and west, out to the Llyn Peninsular. Used to stay at the Brynteg Caravan park, but I understand that they may not take tourer's or campers anymore... which is a shame if they don't.

I've camped here a few times. Its a nice quiet site and has a proper pub too (stone floors, hard wooden pews to sit on etc) which was definitely dog friendly when I took my 2 in for the evening.
