Jamaica currency?

I'm off to jamaica in a couple of weeks, I'm going all Inc but obviously want to take some walking around money for tips / trips etc

Anyone been? Am I best taking a few quids worth oh Jamaican dollars or US dollars?

US all the way, local currency is ok but some only take US, small notes ($1 $5 $10 $20 ) you will be amazed how many people don;t have change.

Same for the most of the Caribbean

US dollar for everyday use, $200Jamaican for leaving the country at the airport, each. (about $20US) I seem to remember

cheers for the info all, i'm staying at the Rose Hall Resort in Montego Bay

do you deffo need the Jamiacan dollars for the airport? or can u pay in US?

We came back a 6 weeks ago, the rep said US, Jamaican or UK currency accepted at the airport. Just work out what the exchange rates are doing and pay in the least expensive currency, US Dollar in our case.
