Green Line in Cyprus

Hi all, got my hols booked for the year, and off to Cyprus. That asides, when I went a good few years ago I heard a rumour that you can get shown through the Green Line in Nicosia, as in walk along it rather than cross it, and it was something to do with the UN presence there.

Is there any shred of truth in this as I'd love to have a look around?
