Where's nice in the cotswolds

Thinking of going for an overnight trip somewhere this weekend and neither of us have been to the Cotswolds.

Short notice so I assume we won't have the pick of places but what places are worth visiting? Somewhere picturesque with little cutesy shops would get maximum bonus points from the missus...I just want somewhere safe to park the car

Burford or Stow on the Wold or Bourton are all pretty Cotswold towns.

I would recommend Broadway, lots of gift shops and a couple of nice hotels (with parking). Walk up to Broadway Tower if you are feeling energetic for lovely views.

I just tried to post that recommendation but IE crashed. I went through the village the other weekend and thought it lovely place.

Painswick and go for a walk round the church yard with the yew trees and then up the beacon if the weathers nice.

Chipping Campden is well recommended. I used to live in the Cotswolds and this place meets your requirement. I never thought much of Burford tbh.

I will look around the Broadway area, looks like lots of options for accom.

If you want masses of people, go to bourton, closely followed by Stow. Burford is nice, but on a hill. Broadway is a nice place, quiet but interesting. Woodstock is a great small town.
As for scenery, drive through the Slaughters and across Snowshill to get to Broadway.

Bourton on the Water, Srow on the Wold all lovely but do get very busy. Chipping Campden is also lovely and worth a visit, as is Broadway.

The the typical Cotswold weekend The Slaughters, Stow, Morton in Marsh, Bourton and Burford will do the job. To be honest I would avoid Bourton and Broadway as they have lost some charm to the toursists. Avoid Daylesford at all costs.

The best parts of the Cotswolds are the lesser known villages that still remain untouched by tourism. For walking places like the Slad Valley outside Stroud are stunning with a nice little pub for a pint after.

It's getting close to the time of year when Bourton in particular, but also plenty of the other popular places mentioned above, get pretty diabolical. Tourist overload stuff.

Although not a huge fan of the Cotswolds (one antiques shoppe is the same as the next), I'd go for Broadway. Mainly because it is prettier than most and is not too far from here:
