I'm looking for a hotel in LA next year, preferably close to Paramount and/or Universal and reasonably priced (cheaper than a Marriot/Hilton).

I was on a roadtrip last summer and crashed in a place near disney etc for a night and it just seemed a bit of a hassle. So onto expedia we went. And booked a Hilton Garden inn, down in irvine, much, better, one of the nicest places i've stayed in (but then i usually stay in very very basic stuff, however, it was much better than the average us motel (of which i've stayed in many). and it was very well priced as well (although we were there over the weekend)

Its also about 15 minutes from the saturday cars an coffee meet down at the mazda college. Its definatley worth going to, the best way i can describe it, would be, a free car meet, thats 20 times better than any of the car shows you go to in the uk. Youtube it, google it, honestly, its worth a visit, and go VERY early, it doesnt last that long and it was pretty much over and done by the time we arrived. It seems americans with classic cars/exotica dont hide them away like we do.

If you don't mind being down near Disney in Anaheim, then the Hilton is usually available via Hotwire for around $80/night.

Cars and Coffee starts at 6am and lasts til 8am. There's also another, the Donut Derelicts, at Huntington Beach, from 7 til 9am

Why do they do these things so very early in the morning? Luckily we fly out on the saturday so an early start will be in order anyway.

Stayed at the Embassy Suites at Anaheim. Very close to Disney and was a typical Hilton group hotel.

Last year stayed further out at Newport Beach as it was quieter.
