Lots and lots and lots and lots of stairs. Spent 3 days hiking along it in '04, most isn't restored and the hardiest part were small, steep, slippery, crumbling steps. Killer on the calfs.

ETA: Here are some photos to give you an idea of the terrain.

We did a one-day trek from a little village on an unrestored section away from the tourists!

The sections up to the turrets are so steep it's unreal and the unrestored nature of the wall makes it easy to loose your footing in many places, but most of our group managed pretty easily and some of us were hardly athletic wink. Our guide was at least 70, a local Chinese guy who virtually sprinted off in comparison to our pace and when we caught up on the top of one of the steep sections he as having a ciggy and had apparently smoked for decades!

Saying all that though it was easily one of the highlights of my 4 month trip in Asia! You can't beat being in the middle of nowhere with stunning scenery and the wall stretching out over every hill and ridge you can see!

Wow when I looked in the lounge it said:

both dates are now fully booked so they are adding an additional date, good luck raising the £2850 if this is what your doing.
