I'm planning a couple of weeks in Turkey, back end of September. Based on the recomendations given in earlier threads I think I'm favouring either Dalyan or Kalkan.

Anyone able to compare, and perhaps recommend one of the two?

I'm planning on hiring a car, and taking in all of interest in the area - I'm quite into history, local culture, natural beauty, walking, wildlife etc. Lively nightlife isn't a priority anymore.

On top of that I'd like a decent beach within reasonably handy, to allow a few days of relaxation.

Thanks.

My in-laws have a house in Kalkan and sister in law lives there. I've never been but I'll ask for some info...

Apparently Kalkan will fit your requirements nicely. If you have any specifics fire away...

From mother-in-law - "Dalyan is a pleasant village but quite a bit smaller than Kalkan. Have a look at http://www.ownersdirect.co.uk/turkey/TK1440.htm Its a villa in Kalkan owned by the family (wife's aunt and uncle) and is currently available from 21st September. This is first year they have rented the villa out and I believe it is quite reasonably priced, but we would recommed you hire a car to get to various places of interest/historical sites."

Thanks for the info, looks like Kalakan it is then.

Villa looks decent, and well priced - but bigger than I need really.

cheers.

Check out the 5* all inclusive hotels/spa resorts in Turkey. Sheer indulgence, surprisingly non-chavvy, very reasonable and all your needs catered for. It would probably work out cheaper than that villa when you consider all meals and drinks are provided FOC.
Hire a car, and make sure you really plan the places you want to visit before hand!. Their road/places of interest signage is poor/misleading to non-existent. Print off hi-res Google maps of the places you want to visit, and a sat nav would be very useful.
You'll love it there.
