Flights are booked and payed for, flying out to Bangkok on the 15th October and don't return to Blighty till the 9th March 2010 smile

Woohoo!

I can't wait.

The GF and I have sat down with maps of Thailand, Malaysia etc etc and planned out a general route, but that may change. Who knows!

I am so excited, handed in my notice today and my contract terminates on the 9th October.

Any... as you were tongue out

A tad jealous I have to admit. It is my favorite place in the whole world. Have had some great holidays there with wifey and expect to take more soon. Went to The Racha (www.theracha.com) for my last two weeker with nights in the Millenium in Phuket and Bangkok. Go to the Racha for a night or two, it is heavenly!!

Have a great time guys! Sawasdee khup!

We are only staying in "budget" accomodation (read bungalow on the beach front that cost £4- £8 a night)

And just bumming around (i say!!!) and going where the wind takes us smile

You're going to Thialand with your GF?

Oh well, enjoy it all the same and watch out for dodgy shrooms and paranoid inducing whiskey, robbing tourists, fake cops, currupt cops, bad drving, and mossys!

No really, its a wicked place but avoid the tourists areas, Koh Samui islands, Koa san Road, Pattaya. Koh Pii Pii is still nice I hear.

Well although The Racha is not 'budget' in any language there are still some amazing places to do 'budget'. Considered Koh Tao (adjacent to Koh Phang Gan and a boat trip of about two hours from Samui? Alternatively Krabi and Phi Phi are topographically amazing and a trip to Bamboo island is a must. Enjoy, whatever you do and fill your boots with bowls of Tom Yam Goong for thrumpence a bowl!

We are skipping Ko Samui altogether, as its not really what we are looking for really and heading over to Ko Phangan (I REALLY want to do the full moon party which is very high on the list) as a first stop, we are stopping on Koa San Rd for a day or so just to say we've done it but not there for any length of time.
Yes Phi Phi is pretty high on the "to-do list" among lots of other places smile

Yep, Ko Tao, Phangan (we are skipping Samui) then over the mainland to the other side to do Phuket, Phi Phi Krabi etc etc and stopping over any where alse that takes our fancy and that sets the general trend for the whole of the trip

A good friend of mine lives on Ko Phangan and runs this place:

http://www.wakeupwakeboarding.com/

It's on the north side of the island, so a lot quieter than Haad Rin and Thong Sala.

If you have any specific questions about Ko Phangan, drop me a line!

Oh, and have a fab time, you bugger! biggrin

We are looking at stopping somewhere like Baan Panburi Village on Thong Nai Pan Noi Beach???

Looks far enough away from Haad Rin but do regular boat trips if the urge takes us.
