We're trying to find a little remote place in the Loire and aren't finding much from the directory services so thought I would ask here as I continue searching.

Doesn't have to be much - self-catering, remote, dead quiet, pool, cute-ish, for two of us in mid Sept. Budget not a factor (within reason!).

The only things I'm coming up with have shared facilities / shared buildings or look really naff.

Thanks

I can help with everything but the pool.

Check out my profile... (we do have a beach nearby where the water was still warm last year in Sept!)

They've fixed the site, but it is awful. The search brings up the same properties on different pages, the page per property shows thumbnails of pictures (with some owners uploading just one pic of the front door!), the back/return functionality is ste and it's sooo slow. In a nutshell, so very French hehe

Are you really dead-set on the pool? Our house is utterly tranquil...

Thanks, but she is dead-set. Wants to spend a week reading by a pool / swimming in a pool.

In mid sept?

As a 'local', all I can say is: rofl

I'm afraid the Loire is seen as the dividing line between Mediterranean weather and British weather. If she wants a pool - head to the Cote d'Azur (or better still for Sept, Italy/Sicily).

In my experience you'll be lucky to find a place with a pool in the Loire unless you look at campsites which is presumably missing the point!

As above it's not really the right part of the country for outdoor swimming in September.

We've stayed at this place on the outskirts of Vouvray a few times. Not all that remote but very peaceful. Owners are very friendly. There are rooms in the main house or a troglodyte cave and a cottage with catering facilities. Pool is excellent. Breakfast is supplied and there are excellent restaurants nearby.

Apologies, I read chateau in the subject. The cave and cottage are seperate from the main house although the pool might be shared.

We've stayed in Le Doliniere on this site before, it is very secluded and peaceful with a lovely pool.

I've been looking on this site http://www.holiday-rentals.co.uk/France/r31.htm recently, seems pretty comprehensive.

Just thought I'd pop an update to this smile

We stayed near Onzain.

On arrival the temp was warmer than expected:

It dropped to about 24-25 for the rest of the time.

Sitting by the pool, reading a book was just perfect smile

So there you go, pool time fine weather is possible in the Loire mid-Sept. smile
