I'm after a cottage in the middle of no-where for a long weekend away from everything. Needs to be pet friendly and have no neighbours for at least a mile. Doesnt matter if it has no TV but running water would be nice wink

Scotland is a bit too far so I guess Wales is the only option.

Any ideas?

(I've already Google'd but found nothing specific)

No neighbours for a mile is going to make things difficult.

Wales is, otherwise, simply FULL of holiday cottages.

I have the perfect property for you....

http://www.nationaltrustcottages.co.uk/south_east/...

It's a beautiful spot and very remote but does have a footpath about 100m away.

''Finally, be aware that Duckpool Cottage is a place for escaping from the pace of modern life. There is no mains electricity, so no TV, no washing machine, but there is running hot water, a gas fridge, gas cooker, and telephone.''

Still trying to persuade the wife to go !!!!

That is just the sort of thing I'm after - but its a little too far from Staffordshire for a weekend away.

try this:

http://www.lakeland-hideaways.co.uk/broomriggs.asp

Last time I was there I hired a cottage in grizedale forest, no tv, log fires, no phone reception and the nearest place was about 1/2 mile away.

Im not understanding???

That website suggests its per cottage and not per person?

So I can get this:

http://www.nationaltrustcottages.co.uk/heart_of_en...

for this amount?

http://www.nationaltrustcottages.co.uk/heart_of_en...

or this:

http://www.nationaltrustcottages.co.uk/north_of_en...

for even less?

http://www.nationaltrustcottages.co.uk/north_of_en...

Especially if I took 10 people?

That would work out at like £80 per week.... that can be right.

Can someone confirm?

www.matchboxcottage.co.uk

why are you after no neighbours? This has neighbours, but you have the advanntage of a few-minutes walk to the pubs...

Not to have a go, but you have no internal pictures, no maps, no prices, no availability, local interests, testimonials, etc, etc...

Just a home page and a contact us we are interested.

Spend an hour or two doing the rest and you will get more people interested as it has all the info they need rather than having to chase you up for it.

Yep, those prices are per cottage so can work out very cheap per person if there are lots of you.

We stayed here once - properly isolated on a lonely Welsh hill. It does have running water but no electricity. ISTR a nearby house but it was abandonned.

Cool, cheers for that Im off to look at hiring one of the big ones for a few of us as it would be perfect to get for £100-150 per person per week for 6.

Would you be interested in an island that is only accessible at low tide by a 100m stone causeway?

Might work out a bit pricey for 2 mind. I think it’s about a grand for a weekend, as the house sleeps about 12.

Do the National Trust allow pets though?
I think this may be the stumbling block as the chap did say it needs to accept pets.

You're right - We'd like to take one well behaved dog with us.

Some do and some don't, there is a little picture of a dog in a box on the ones that do.

The one I posted allows dogs.

You can search the NT website for properties that allow dogs.

Stop messing about & get yourself up to the Scottish north coast. We stayed here http://www.norsehaven.com/view/ceannabeinne-cottag...

this summer for 2 weeks & it was ace. Beach to ourselves (Mrs Monkey, Little Monkey & Dog Monkey) & weather was perfect.
