Taxi drivers in Ankara....
Discussion
.....are fookin nutters.
I've been lucky enough to travel to many different countries through my work & experience the driving habits in many different cities.
Nowhere I have ever been has had such consistently terrifying taxi drivers as Ankara. I nearly pooed myself of Monday on the ride to the hotel. It made driving round Athens for the last couple of days seem like a walk in the park.
That's all

This is why it amuses me to hear so much complaining about British driving standards on these forums. I've had some pretty grim journeys as a passenger here, but I've never genuinely thought I was going to die in a car.
Unlike a memorable journey through the Cypriot mountains. At night. In a battered old Mercedes. With no crash barriers, a drop of several hundred feet and a driver who thought he was Elvis and smelled faintly of Ouzo...

Which hotel you in? I spent 3 months in the Hilton in 1999 and suffered frequently at the hands of the taxi drivers and their dodgy Fiat lookalikies.I've been lucky enough to travel to many different countries through my work & experience the driving habits in many different cities.

How long are you there for? I'd love to know if one of my old haunts is still open.
