Eurostar - Manchester to Calais - how good?

Anyone used the Eurostar service from Manchester? - I think it is a Virgin train to Euston then Eurostar from St Pancras into France. How reliable and pleasant is it?

I'm thinking of taking the Eurostar to meet my family in Calais for a holiday in Northern France as it seems quicker and works out cheaper than driving using either the Chunnel or Ferry. Oh and I won't be adding hundreds of miles onto a car I'm trying to sell!
