Driving Holiday In Spain
Discussion
Thought I'd share few pictures of our driving holiday through Spain in July. Taking the ferry from Plymouth to Santander. Thought we'd miss out France this year after all the speeding fines I keep hearing about.
1st stop - Siguenza Pardaor(spanish hotel). 75 miles N.E Madrid

Cuenca Parador - World heritage City. 100 miles South East Madrid.

Arrival at Villa - Los Lobos - South East Spain. Car gets several days rest.

Return journey, going through the wild fires near Teruel. Note the blackened mountains in the background and the spotter plane flying over.

Alcaniz Parador and surrounding countryside

Next Stop. Argomaniz Parador.

Last day on the way to Santander and on the Ferry home.

Total miles for the whole journey 2012. And I am sure the Turbo was smiling as much as I was throughout the whole trip.
For any of you thinking of doing a European trip Spain should be a serious candidate. Keep off the motorways as much as you can and you will be rewarded with the most amazing driving roads. (as always though, there are times and places to open the taps up)
Me and Mrs Scrogger have been doing these trips for the last 10 years and we both feel that they are always the best vacations we have.
Hope this inspires a few people to give it a go.

Someone else who's discovered the Paradors. You're probably already a member, but if you join 'Amigos de Paradores' gets you some decent deals aimed at the 30/40 year old market that tends to be excluded from the discounted offers the other age groups get.
If you can get over to Santigo de Compostela there are some great roads/Paradors over that way, as indeed there are in the south. As for the roads, just as you've described; good surfaces and deserted! Thanks for the piccies.
