What to wear on evening out in Vegas?
Discussion
When I booked two nights at the Bellagio (by far the most extravagant portion of our trip) I had romantic visions of turning up to play Baccarat dressed in my immaculate, made to measure (by a nice man in Singapore - "I do it very cheap") tuxedo, sucking long on a thin cigarillo and uttering the word "banco" with only slightly measurable distain.
However, I just can't shake the feeling that most other people there will be in football shirts and shell suits, shouting over each other "your mam's at the buffett".
So basically is it worth carting around the DJ for two nights of a two week honeymoon, just to play James Bond for the night, or shall I just wear some decent jeans and a polo shirt?

If you just want to gamble they will let you spend your money in shorts and flip flops. However if your looking at a Friday or to a lesser extent Saturday in a hotel club then go with the suited and booted in mind. The Americans seem to take dressing up quite seriously. Last time I was there I was astounded at the effort in the queue at the Luxor club.

Cheers, we're going to be there Monday and Tuesday night, as that fits in with our circle around California (and of course Nevada). Going from two nights in Yosemite straight to Vegas, then on from there to Laguna Seca...So I'm thinking decent jeans, polo shirt, no trainers. I've never known what to wear instead of trainers though. At 26 am I old enough for brown moccasins yet?
Casino floors have no real enforced dress code, but the decent restaurants (and some clubs) do: for blokes, typically a shirt with collar, no baggy jeans, no rips etc. Personally, I wear a hawaiian shirt, light chinos and proper shoes in the evening which puts pretty much everything 'in bounds' apart from a couple of real up-market restaurants who want a tie. For me, it's too hot for a jacket so I never take one. So a short sleeved collared shirt is fine prety much anywhere in the evenings; tees and jeans are probably better suited to the Imperial Palace across the road - not the Bellagio, although there will be folks with jeans and tees. Tees and shorts fine during the day though.
Never seen anyone in a Tux (even at the Wynn/Encore), but neither have I seen anyone in football or team colours in anything like the Bellagio. Whatever you end up with, if you end up feeling over-dressed, pop up the road to the Wynn; if you fee under-dressed, pop across to the Imperial Palace or down to the Excaliber (or Hooters!).

We spent a week at Bellagio for our honeymoon and I didn't see a single tux so probably not worth taking it. Smart jeans, a nice polo shirt and a pair of shoes will be fine. Wear what you like on the floor, as long as you're spending they couldn't give a suff, even at Bellagio (though probably best leave the mankini at home too). During the day shorts and T-shirts are fine. Don't forget your swimming stuff, the pool area at Bellagio is excelent, as is the buffet breakfast.
Enjoy!

Was in Vegas for a stag holiday and on one evening we wore suits to dinner. Walking along the stip we were given so much abuse and slagging from the frat boys and preppy types it was unreal. To be fair we must have looked like bunch of McDonalds managers at a conference but I was pretty surprised non the less. Overall I'd echo what everyone else has said; Las Vegas is very casual and in my experience didn't see anyone dressed up any more than they would for a regular night out.
Enjoy your trip, on ours we pretty much did the route you are planning. Yosemite is fabulous, you'll have a great time.

It's Vegas, not Monaco! As said, for gambling you can wear what you want, but in the evenings people tend to dress up a bit as they will go clubbing etc afterwards. I managed to get into an afterhours club wearing t-shirt and trainers, but that was after being told by the doorman I couldn't wear 'tennis shoes' and I'd have to change. I just sneaked past him...
By all means take the DJ, but personally I'd go for some nice casual trousers or jeans and shirts/ polo shirts and some casual shoes (loafers or something).

Hitting the shops tomorrow for something suitable. I'm thinking black suit, black shirt, black shoes for "formal", and some fitted jeans (all mine are baggy-ish) with some brown shoes.
Cheers for the advice guys, all very helpful. Can't wait to get the wedding out of the way and get out there now!
