He's leaving London at 7am, to go camping just outside St Ives, Cornwall, for the weekend.

He thinks it will take him 6 hours to drive down. rofl

He's clearly deluded, but by how much?

I've done it in 6 hours on a Saturday morning, but not on a bank holiday - so probably about 3 hours or so hehe

It varies wildly. Have done it in 6 hours before, but it took us 9 hours from Brighton two weeks ago.

7 am sounds like a bad time to leave, I suspect earlier departure by a couple of hours would make a big difference

Totally agree with that, went to St Ives this year (From Brighton) and set off at 5am, did really good time despite sticking to the limit (under the watchful eye of the gf lol) hardly no traffic bother at all. we arrived before midday.
