Advice please,

I am spending a weekend in September with my dear old mum who i dont get to see often enough these days.

So we've booked some flights into Nice and hired a car for a long weekend.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a cheap-ish, does the job-and-is-ok, type hotel in the Antibes/Nice area.

I'm all ears....

and no mum jokes, i'm watching.

If Hotel Ellington in Nice comes up on your list, then avoid. Spent a week there two summers ago and the place was a nightmare.

yes

Accor group stuff is pretty dependable though you might find yourself in a Zone Commercial...

Logis de France represent lots of good independents, usually with good food too...

Is Cannes an option? I've stayed in http://www.hotel-esterel-cannes.federal-hotel.com/... which was very cheap and perfectly adequate, but room was small. Short walk, from sea front and shops etc. It doesn't have a car park , but the tourist information office sells long stay parking tickets for the municipal car parks. Don't let the location opposite the train station put you off, it was no issue at all.

In Nice I've stayed in http://www.hotelwindsornice.com/accueil.php , quirky decor makes it a touch unusual. I think it has some parking but didn't have a car at the time so can't be certain. Short walk to sea front, bit further to centre ville but not too far. Lovely little tropical garden for breakfast, eveining drinks etc.

Finally, in Antibes, I've stayed in http://www.hotel-djoliba.com/ It's nicely secluded but still walking distance from old port and town. Has parking. Room we had was very small. Has a pool and a nice garden if you just want to relax with a drink
