My self and my lovely girlfriend are thinking of going to wales for a few days this week, we are both uncultured and easily bored with stateley homes and open top bus tours, so do you have any suggestions of what to do and where to go? No sheep shagging jokes please, but I dont mind some countryside air!

Over to you, oh and no places where my 996 TT wont fit, it only has about two inches of ground clearance at the front, and the luggage cpacity of a matchbox.

Abersoch is nice for a visit, nice beach and shops to look round plus a few nice cars.

It can get quite busy though....

I'd suggest the Lakes around Rhyader - lovely scenery and some good roads too wink.

I opened this thread expecting to see something like 'drive over the Severn Bridge-Eastbound' but obviously I looked too early.

Personally I do enjoy a walk around St Davids if you fancy going that far. Lovely abbey.

Just drive and then drive some more... then eat... sleep and drive again... repeat... the roads and scenery are usually enough to keep me amused, everything else is a bonus.

Well, bugger me with a soggy leek, so he's not...

How did that one pass without dancing in the streets...?

^ this.

As a resident of the area for the first 19 years of my life, I can attest that the Gower Peninsular is unutterably gorgeous.

A walk to, around, and on Three Cliffs Bay is a must starting and finishing at Southgate where, at the end, have a bloody big ice cream. Talking of which, seek out Joe's Ice Cream Parlour near the Swansea Guildhall. It's been there since the 20's and is an institution (although acolytes of Cresci's ice cream may beg to differ - I do). Mumbles is worth a visit also, as is Pobbles Bay (near Three Cliffs). Another must is to drive from Abergavenny to Brecon, pick up the A470 towards Merthyr, then shortly after the reservoir on your right take the right hand turn signposted Neath (A4059?). Driving joy, but be careful of the sheep!
