I'm looking at stopping over in Hawaii for 4 nights on the way from Sydney to the US.

Do you think 4 nights is worthwhile, and does anyone have an recomendations on where to stay? (circa £200 a night max)

Thanks

Thinking Honolulu (Waikiki) to minimize the amount of travelling required once we get there.

Waikiki is very much Beindorm Sur La Tropics. It's really not that great. Oahu has little to offer in my opinion, apart from Pearl Harbour, which is half a day, a day at the absolute max. There are hourly flights from Oahu to Kona (on the Big Island) and that is much better, as it has the volcanos and Kona coast. The fares are really cheap, and about 20 mins in duration. If I were you, I'd head there. Or Kaui.

Thanks for that, that was exactly the sort of advice I was after.

My partner and I are looking at doing RTW for about a month, along the following route (tbc still wink )

LHR to Shanghai

Shanghai to Hong Kong

Hong Kong to Singapore

Singapore to Cairns

Cairns to Whitsundays via train.

Whitsundays to Sydney (flight)

Sydney to Haiwaii

Haiwaii to Las Vegas

Vegas back to LHR.

Any advice on the above?

That's quite a lot to do in a month! You're not going to have much time in any one place.

3 nights or so in the Asian cities, we did HK and Bangkok last year, so just wanted a few days there.

5 nights or so in the Whitsundays and Hawaii, and then 2 in Vegas (we were there in April) as its a stop over on the way home.
