We're looking at Mauritius next year for our honeymoon

It's going to be around the 1st week of July for a fortnight.

We're into rest and relaxation, especially on a honeymoon, so I'm not that fussed about scuba diving and the like.

But - can anyone recommend decent hotels and areas to stay/get looked after?

We're looking at somewhere decent but not Royal Palm standard!

TIA

Have visited and stayed in quite a few hotels there (business, not holiday but yes, it was quite pleasant!) from the 5 star celeb hang-outs to the more modest places in need of some renovation.

When I had to spend my own money, we went to Paradise Cove as we felt it was not too big and sprawling, nice and quiet, not full of kids (as some are) and a reasonable cost (for Mauritius).

Oops was just about to recommend it! Stayed there for a week, then went to Zimbabwe, couldn't believe contrast in prices. Couple of drinks in the Royal Palm, same price as pre-dinner drinks, wine & 3 course meal in the Meikles Hotel in Harare!

Not sure of the course name - but there is a course there that two of my mates have played (one a 6 handicapper, and one a 14) and they both said it is the hardest course they have ever played. At the time (approx 3/4 years ago) no professional had shot under par on the course.

Don't forget July = mid-winter in the Southern Hemisphere, so it won't be that warm, maybe 23-24 c. max. Possibly not warm enough to lounge by the pool all day.

I'd go somewhere like Mombasa in Kenya - plenty warm enough to lounge about, but lots to see if you can be bothered (and frankly, if you go all that way and aren't tempted to go on safari, there's something wrong with you). It's also cheaper than Mauritius. Use www.wunderground.com's trip planner to tell you the weather in whatever location takes your fancy.
