Depends, if you have a UK passport then all you need (and please anyone else feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) is to fill out the ESTA in advance of your departure and you can fill out a visa waiver form on the plane on the way over. On the visa waiver form (the long thin green one) make sure you get the details correct, an easy mistake is to start filling things out on the wrong line and to put it in the line above when it should be in the line below (or vice versa, I can't remember which!).

If, on the other hand, your passport is from the badlands of Waziristan or somesuch place then you'll need a whole lot more info and you would be best advised to look on a US visa website.

Oh, and watch this thread disappear to some backwater forum such as 'Politics and obscure documentation' or somewhere like that! (Or maybe the P&P if the mods are feeling in a good mood! wink)

Well, you will need to fill in the ESTA form online and your airline should have sent you a pre-registration form to fill in, I'd do both of these if you can but they seem to just give you the same stuff to fill in when you get there anyway.

I got back 2 weeks ago and I was spending a lot of time in just my shorts by the pool and I can't imagine it will be much cooler now, I think it got up to around 40 degrees C.

Are you planning on going out to clubs whilst you're there? The ques and cover charges are mental but I have the card of a guy that should be able to get you into most places without waiting or paying the cover charge for a small fee (got us into PURE for $10 each ect) if you want the details send me a PM and I'll try to find the card.

Enjoy!

i hope the thread doesnt get moved as i was hoping for input on what to expect in vegas and maybe any good places to go as well as the visa issue.

anyone know of the weather this time of year over there?

anywhere other than the casinos to go (dont worry i will be spending most of my time in them) i will have to be visiting this place too...

How long are you in Vegas for?

There's loads of stuff to do in the area - but you will need a car.

It's a fairly short drive to Death Valley - that's a full day.
Do the extended tour of Hoover Dam - it's excellent.
Trips on Lake Mead if you have SWMBO with you.

If you have the budget then a helicopter tour to the Grand Canyon is well worth doing.\

Head to the Times Square bar in NYNY for the duelling pianos (10pm to 2am)

If you have a decent car and fancy a drive then valley of fire state park isn't to far away, also Red Rock? Bryce and Zion NPs are worth a tour.

Up until recently you could have gotten away with filling out a couple of visa waiver forms on the plane. However, to enter under the visa waiver scheme now you need to register with ESTA (as others have said). Just type ESTA into google and you will find the relevant site!!

Vegas is amazing...have been 3 times and looking forward to going back!

Not sure about the important bits because I have dual citizenship but all I would say is try not to take a credit card out with you on your nights out wink. I spent just over 4K in 10 hours. We where staying in the Belagio for a stop over on a trip down to Texas. Things got a little out of hand lol Big tip from me is to not let your brother influence your spending.

You will need a machine-readable passport to use ESTA.
