Self catering chalet around christmas

just contemplating an impromptu ski trip at or just before christmas, preferably self catering for 8-12 folks half of which would be kids.

We are probably looking at driving so france seems the obvious choice.

Any recommendations of good firms/operations to look at would be appreciated
