Me and a group of 8 friends are going to Vegas for new years. Has anyone been there for new years? What did you do on new years eve? We havnt got anything booked or sorted yet and dont really have any idea of where to go so suggestions would be greatly received.

Yep. Mate, you must plan and book everything well in advance. You'll find every decent restaurant/club is probably already booked out. The strip itself is like nothing I've ever seen. Completely rammed, and I mean not a sqaure foot empty. Having said that, the atmosphere was excellent, people were brilliant and all the major hotels co-ordinate their firework displays, which are excellent.
Tis a good experience, and I'd do it again, but I would plan your evening and book as early as you can.

Was there last year. They shut the strip off to cars mid afternoon which is quite something to see. We were at the Venetian and the block started just outside and went down the strip from there towards the MGM Grand.

Is there anywhere you could suggest we go? I would like to have a bit of dinner then head to a club if possible. Do they have betting tables in the clubs?

How about the MGM? They have great clubs, good food (awesome buffet, and loads of other places), and are central to some of the great clubs.

Accross the road (by walkway) is Excalibur, with Coyote Ugly. Also accessible from the MGM is the tram and monorail - which may be important, since you'll probably wish to stagger around drunk and still have an easy return home, whenever that may be.

Further down the strip are Venetian, Wynn etc - which are also good, but not so great if you want to meander from casino to casino.

If you're 'cheap', there is also Motel 6 next door to the MGM, rooms for $40 a night - and a good pool, shop etc. Not that I've ever stayed there of course getmecoat

These are all super-casinos, each is a resort containing everything you'll need. Gambling is the main money maker, so to go from the food courts to the clubs to the shops, you'll always have to go throuugh the casino!

Don't forget to take a tux, the American barbarians may go Hawaian, but the Yank girls will go for all that British James Bond stuff laugh

nerdCoyote Ugly is in New York New York, whish is indeed across the walkway.
The Excalibur has, IMHO, no redeeming features whatsoever.

Beat me to it.

Coyote Ugly's good fun. As are the club's in Mandalay Bay and Bellagio.
Also the bar, "Caramel"?, in Bellagio was nice.

To be honest, pretty much any bar/club in any big casino hotel complex will be brilliant!

Vegas. Bloody magical place!
