I'm working in Singapore at the moment but have a long weekend off coming up. Thinking about catching a flight to KL.

So, can someone please recommend me a medium budget Hotel in KL and some tips on where to go and what to see.

Thanks in advance.

Craig.

I'm in KL (born and bred). To be honest, don't bother. The only thing worthwhile in KL is the shopping, and for that, Singapore eats it.

If you want to hit the islands, now THAT'S a different matter...

I agree with Deadlock, Kl is good for Shopping and not musch else, but there are some good hotels in the budget range, in the Bukit Bingtang area, including a brand new one just opened this weekend I'll look the name up when I walk past which will be in the next few days

If you are just looking for an oppertunity to get out of Singa for a while and just have a change of scenery then KL is not bad.

Other options are Bintan which is basically the Costa Del Sol for Singaporeans. Bangkok is also an easy flight away and has more to offer i recon but it is getting expensive these days and can be harder to find rooms.

For going to KL would suggest you take the coach instead of flying https://www.aeroline.com.sg/

All up it takes the same amount of time what with the "1 hour before" and the fact that KL airport is effin miles from KLCC!

The Raddison on Jalan Ampang is not bad and also mid bracket reasonable with good views of the Petronas Towers.

Where in Singa are you??

You thinking Tioman and the like?? lovely places!!

To get there from Singa,

Berijaya air fly from Seletar (i think) direct to Tioman or you coach to Mersing then take the ferry.

I was in KL earlier this year and loved it. In fact regret that I didn't get more than two nights there so will deinitely go back at some point. Stayed in the Prince Hotel & Residence which I would recommend. The food was great, I think I may have disgraced myself on that count. Next time I will have to go to McCurry's :-)

The name of the new Budget Hotel is YK38 in Tankat Tong Shin 50200 KL, it in the middle of the Golden Triangle, brand new on 1st October, so should be clean, and room rate is advertised at 100Rm. Around he corner is the Radius, bit more expensive. Both are 100m from Jalan Alor which is the best street eating in KL, and Changkat Bukit Bingtang which is the current bar/in street in KL
Prince Hotel is good, we are planing to use it as the meet point for our ride to the MotoGP on 25th, but I'd not describe it as Budget, cheap by westrern std's of course.

Ive stayed at the Radius, 3 times in the last 4 years, and its gone down hill somewhat over that period, mind you, you cant knock it for location. Price has gone up and sadly the service and state of the place has suffered. I told the manager i shall not be returning to his hotel, all i got in return was a smile, all i wanted was an apology. frown

I agree, but remebr the question was budget, I live by the Radius and we used to use it for things like Moto Gp when our spare rooms are full on a first come first serve basis, last time my mate stayed he said the same thing as you, which Is why I was looking at the new place, as I say opened on the 1st October.

If you are using the Airoline, then book the Corus Hotel, thjis is where the bus stops in KL,less than 100m from the rail way station, which than give underground air con walk way to KLCC, and you used to get a good discount if you booked it at the same time as the bus ticket
