USA sales tax refund and best places to shop for electronics

I was just wondering whether as a UK toursit going to the USA you can claim back sales tax when leaving the country?

Also, does anyone know where the best places are for shoping for electronics? I will be visiting San Francisco and New York. How do shop prices compare to Amazon.com?

Did a load of buying here: http://www.jr.com - they price-match/haggle too.

Be warned though, by claiming the tax back, you're advertising yourself at the airport as carrying lots and worth stopping in the UK. No idea if it works like that though!

The local sales tax always works out cheaper than paying import duty or VAT, if they mail you the item to your home address there is no sales tax to pay, but you may/may not get caught for import duty and/or VAT when it comes into the country.
