Best place to stay in Barbados

Pick your budget and stay in the best place you can afford on the west coast. I really wouldn't stay on the south - no matter how much cheaper.
FWIW I stayed at the Crystal Cove a couple of years ago it was very nice but I'm not sure I would go AI again as there are some beautiful resaurants on the west coast.

The Savanah was good when I was there a few years ago. Located right opposite the horse race track, not sure of meetings etc but you could look it up somewhere as it's a good laugh. Nice crowd of residents, own beach access and a bar next to the beach that serves superb cocktails with a large plasma to watch the cricket on
Like all the above said hire a car and get out to eat and explore. We hired a Mini Moke and it was an excellent tool to get around the island and certainly raised a few eyebrows pulling into the posher places
Restaurant wise I can recommend The Cliff and Lone Star, if they are still there in todays economic climate, both on the west coast. From memory if you stayed at Lone Star (small place with 4 or 5 rooms only) the owner turned up on a Sunday to do a BBQ lunch on the beach followed by beach cricket liberally mixed with rum cocktails

We stayed at Sandy Lane and found it overpriced (the same wines are less expensive at restaurants like Tides) and too Essex.
We also stayed at a wonderful place in the hills near the West coast called Villa Nova. It was Anthony Eden's old estate house. It went bust soon after we left, something we'd suspected was on the cards from the lack of guests and the obviously high overheads. They had a guest book full of celebs and the likes of Blair, but only about ten rooms and very high prices, but were nowhere near a beach.
