1k 'should' be OK. Even Ryanair let a mate off for coming in at 15.8kg on a 15kg allowance.

If not, can't you throw something in you hand luggage?

Flown many times with 22/23/24KG's and never a problem. Never flown with Air Fungus though.

Wear an extra kilo of clothes or transfer some to hand luggage.

Think they (by that I mean airlines generally) let 2-3kg go without worry... If not, there will more likely than not simply be a small charge.

Stuff on your body is not weighed. Therefore if they say you need to get rid of something wear an extra jumper and your coat and stuff the pockets with the heaviest items you can. Should easily save a kilo or two.

Frankly I think there should be a weight which is you, and your luggage.

I resent the fact that I have to upgrade my flight to get a 30kg luggage allowance when two lardies can get on the flight with 20kg of luggage each, but they weigh 30kg more than me !!

Is that honestly, all that you have to worry about; the fact that someone else on the plane weighs more than you?
Do you honestly upgrade, just to take 10 kg more luggage? Wouldn't it be cheaper to pay the additional charge for the additional luggage?

And what would happen if you had a really good dump after you check in. Do you get a refund ?

Well, I have to take the dive kit, and it's chuffing heavy...

No, I do agree that the lounge, faster check in etc. are all helpful as well as the extra luggage.

Most of the airlines I work with are happy to allow a 3kg deviation on the weight.

Best thing to do is plonk it on the belt cool as a cucumber with one arm. Don't huff and puff with a two handed snatch and jerk and attract attention.

I'm having a right time of it at the gates right now, certain passengers will check in after hiding their hand luggage and come to me at the gate. I stopped one couple with a wheelchair and 10 pieces of hand luggage, on a full flight. I normally can't be fussed with collecting excess baggage fees as long as I do it every now and again to show willing, but when people take the pi$$ then they are going to have to cough up. It's only fair as they are hogging all the overhead storage for the likes of honest passengers.

I've seen the lot, and routes to Africa are worst. I have 2 car tyres knocking about at work someone was demanding to take on board.
