Train fares at the weekend are still an eye opener, so we're planning to park in west London and get the tube from there.

Coming from the M4, I was planning on parking somewhere in Hammersmith I guess, but does anyone have any better ideas? We'll probably go to the Natural History museum (kids will love it), maybe see about tickets for a show & generally wing it, so other than the NH museum, nothing specific on the itinerary.

Cheers smile

Unless you want to take the tube for fun, just drive all the way in - loads of single yellows you can park on.
Most parking bays are Mon-Sat too.

In that area my brother apparently managed to park at Imperial College (for concert at Royal Albert Hall) - no idea how he arranged it, presume google will enlighten.

I'm actually after a similar solution for Sunday - but overnight as I'm staying up there to Monday morning... so will have to sort something and pay congestion charge for AM Monday.

If you are heading down to the natural History first, get there 20-30 before opening and you'll park right outside the door virtually, for nothing, all day. Then, if you are going to loads of different places, get yourself a travel card for the zones that you require.
You could head over to Columbia Road flower market if you fancy an early start. Its near Hoxton/Shoreditch. Get there for 8ish, then head back toward Brompton Road for the museums.

Parking on meter bay anywhere around the Nat Hist museum is free all day on Sunday. Avoid bays marked "diplomatic" though.

Plenty of parking on Prince Consort Road at rear of Royal Albert Hall. Its a short walk down Exhibition Road passed museums to South Ken tube station too.

No congestion charge on Sunday either.

nono Most of the West End, north of Piccadilly and east of Park Lane, is fully payable from noon onwards to at least 18:00. It is free until noon to avoid upsetting church-goers. Many of the shops open noon-18:00 too.

Read the signage carefully, it all depends on which Dukedom's estate the land is on as to if they charge for Sunday's or not.
